Bendungan & PLTA Bribin II

Hearing the word "Gunungkidul" then what comes to mind is the area of barren mountain. Each dry season, this area would be attacked by a long drought. Residents were forced to walk several miles to get clean water. But soon the image and the condition slowly vanished.

Beginning of the awakening Bribin II:
The idea to build a hydropower Bribin II originated in a seminar attended by German alumni in Yogyakarta, February 2000.

"At that time, I (pk. As Natio), as head of Center for Advanced Reactor System Development at the National Atomic Energy Agency (Batan), met with Prof.. Franz Nestmann from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany. He is an expert in the field of hydrology and civil engineering.

At that, I challenge, whether the University of Karlsruhe to meet drinking water needs for agricultural water needs in the area Gunungkidul. Regions that are difficult to water, but in the stomach there is a lot of potential underground water. This potential is known with several limestone mountain streams to the south is the south coast, up north "

Development begins with the search project location "dam" is just below the ground.

First in the world
This program is established with the cooperation of:
Provincial Government of DIY, University of Karlsruhe, Batan and representatives of Ministry of Research and Technology (Research and Technology) Germany, and Department of Public Works, including a number of universities like the University of Gadjah Mada (UGM), Universitas Islam Indonesia, and Bandung Institute of Technology.

The system's first underground dam in the world will be operated continuously for 24 hours without energy costs. Appointment of water from underground streams using micro hydro system. Bribin II project to improve water supply to the point I Bribin project pipeline has been built in 1984.

Bribin II project completion time is constrained due to a leak in the pipe connections and some underground water dams because of the high water pressure reached 20 bar. This high pressure is necessary to raise the water level of nearly 200 meters from the surface waters sink beneath the ground to the main reservoir.

This plumbing leaks could cause water from underground rivers can not pump it into the main water reservoir. "Having evaluated was a mistake in the installation of the pipe connections so torn and leaking," said Ana.
Regent Gunung Kidul Suharto asserted, Bribin II project is one of the foundation for fulfilling the water needs of the people of Gunung Kidul is always drought in the dry season.

Water Pumping Technology

there are a number of new technologies on offer, namely by utilizing the force of gravity.

The river water will ultimately flow into the lower places. Underground river that is at the lower end of the Cave Bribin width of not less than 7 meters.

later, by using Earth's gravity, the water will lead to a turbine in the dam, power turbines generate more electricity than a 240 kVA will be interconnected to a pump, which pumps water to the surface.

Thus, calculated no less than 200 liters of water per second can be generated without having to burden the cost of energy.

Project Underground Water Cave Bribin ends

Gunung Kidul, Kompas - Project lifting water from underground rivers in Goa Bribin completed.Pipe leakage in Bribin II project have been resolved. With 80 liters of flow per second in the rainy season and 40 liters per second in the dry season, water flows from an underground river to the reservoirs in the hamlet Kanigoro, Dadapayu Village, District Semanu.

Deputy Team for the University of Karlsruhe Germany Bribin Project II Ana says, infrastructure development projects initiated Bribin II in 2005 and had stopped two years since the 2006 earthquake can be enjoyed by residents. Water from Bribin II project is estimated to be sufficient water for 80,000 residents of Gunung Kidul.

Unfinished work on the project related Bribin II only automated real-time monitoring.Researchers from Germany intend to continue to monitor the operational Bribin II project directly from Germany. "It's 99.9 percent completion. We are just waiting for the handover from Germany to Indonesia on March 11," said Ana, Sunday (24 / 1).

TS previous apologize, because when the search, Thread of these existing Underground Dam the world's first in Indonesia, but because it was anxious to discuss the latest developments of this Bribin II, the TS Thread complement of pre-existing ..

Hopefully funded mega-project that the iPhone could be on the launch date of March 11 as preached by Kompas on the above, because, it is necessary in the know, this project has been running from 2005, and got suspended for 2 years due to earthquake in 2006.
